Why The Career Design Method™

Most career programs help students choose a path once. We teach students a decision process they can return to throughout their lives.

The average Canadian changes careers 5 to 7 times. School counsellors often introduce options, but they rarely teach a structured framework for making these decisions again as students grow.

The Career Design Method is different. It is not designed to produce one right answer at 18. It teaches a clear, repeatable process for exploring and evaluating career directions at every stage, grounded in psychology, supported by professional assessments, and informed by design thinking.

This is how students learn to approach uncertainty with more structure and less pressure, so each future transition feels more manageable.

The Method Behind Career Decisions

A Design Process, Not Just Career Advice.

The Career Design Method teaches students to approach career decisions the way designers approach complex problems: with structure, experimentation, and adaptability.

Instead of searching for one correct answer, students learn to:
Generate hypotheses based on their personality, interests, strengths, and values
Test possible directions before fully committing
Assess fit using clear criteria
Adjust and redesign as they learn more about themselves

Each of the five sessions builds on the last, moving from discovery to assessment to exploration to design to launch.
By the end, students have a direction or shortlist that feels grounded, along with a process they can use for future decisions.
